The aim of crisis and recovery management is to be well prepared for a crisis or a recovery, react as early as possible and ensure a rapid and adequate response so that damages and impact on Airbus operations are brought to a minimum.
The main benefits of a robust crisis and recovery management are:
● A faster crisis/recovery resolution time
● A reduced impact on airbus, its supply chain and customer operations
● A better communication with customers and stakeholders
● An increased people engagement
● An improved customer satisfaction and a reduced risk of damaging Airbus brand and reputation
Crisis/recovery management is the process by which the organization deals with disruptive and unexpected events that threatens to harm Airbus operations.
A crisis or recovery occurs when due to an event, the supply chain becomes unable to systematically deliver the parts (or WP) in accordance with the needs (quality or on time), putting at risk Airbus or its supply chain operations, and consequently Airbus customer deliveries.
There are different type of events that can trigger a crisis or recovery:
● Supplier operational and technical issues leading to late deliveries
● Quality escape
● Natural disasters (earthquake, flooding, tsunamis, etc..)
● Technological (cyber-attack)
● Social events (strikes)
● Workplace accident or incident (fire)
● Financial issues (bankruptcies)
● Etc…
Note: The subcontracted activity shall be performed on supplier premises (Spirit Kinston)
● Priority management (Implement War Room, LoB and priority management in shopfloor)
● Capacity & bottlenecks management (Increase output and ensure bottlenecks are fully loaded)
● Process (Perform VSM analysis, VA/NVA analysis, eliminate waste, reduce cycle time)
● HR (Improve competence and skills management)
● Materials management (Implement Forecast integration, S&OP, MPS; Improve scheduling adherence, delays management, reduce Lead Time, implement surveillance of inter-operation time; Implement Buffer stock)
● Quality management/Quality assurance system (Reduce Quality NC; Deployment of QRQC/quality clinic)
● Sub-tiers management (Secure raw material/components; Improve subtiers performances)" "Supplier management Quality and logistic"
