Additionally, the Cook II will help maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the back of house, ensure that a clean supply of the necessary flatware, china, and other operating equipment is effectively maintained during operation, safely and correctly ensure the care of equipment and the proper use of cleaning chemicals, and organizing operating equipment for banquet functions.
Responsibilities
- FOOD PREPARATION: Create lively and flavorful dishes, adhering to production standards and time constraints. Ensure preparations are fully seasoned, making sure to gain Sous Chef or Executive Chef approval.
- FOOD PRESENTATIONS: Change pans regularly and maintain a clean workspace. Restock food supplies. Make sure all mise-en-place is in sufficient quantities for the day's counts.
- GUEST SERVICE: Work in a prompt, friendly, and efficient manner. Assist servers during busy times to speed guests through lines. Greet guests as encountered.
- Demonstrate proper operation of equipment, use of knives and other kitchen tools. Work cooperatively with stewards and ask politely for their assistance when needed. Work safely to prevent injuries. Clean lines at the end of the day.
- Keep work and service areas uncluttered, especially walk-in coolers. Store and rotate food to ensure freshness and avoid waste. Label leftover products and store them in appropriate areas of cooler or kitchen. Take daily inventories.
- Previous cook experience required
- Maintain open, constructive channels of communication with other kitchen personnel
- Demonstrate a good attitude and cooperative nature when dealing with kitchen staff, Supervisors and above all, THE GUESTS!
- Follow directions from your Supervisor and ask questions about aspects of assigned duties you may not understand
- When faced with stressful situations with your work, other employees or guests, take a deep breath and retain your composure under pressure
- When complaints or problems are encountered with guests or other employees, bring the circumstances to your Supervisor's immediate attention for swift resolution
- Standing for long periods of time
- Lifting and carrying 25-50 lbs.
