As part of the Deerfield HR team, the HR Generalist will truly work across the full spectrum of employee life. From helping to design and execute talent acquisition strategies to supporting proactive employee relations, and from administering benefits to supporting employee engagement, our HR team performs a variety of administrative and people-focused activities supporting Deerfield in beautiful Asheville, North Carolina on our 125-acre campus nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The individual will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Our HR team works both independently and in collaboration with others, bringing a combination of creativity, thought leadership and roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-things-done. No two days will be alike, and this is a role that blends big thinking with sometimes fast-changing details. Key responsibilities include:
- Manage job postings through our HR information system; work with departments to better understand staffing needs and support the sourcing and onboarding processes.
- Support Day 1 onboarding as well as the long-term Deerfield employee experience through effective communication, building trust with a service mentality.
- Maximize technology to maintain high compliance standards and create a user-friendly experience.
- Bring best practices to HR operations, blending Deerfield policies, required government regulations and a focus on excellence.
- Support a strong culture by advising and acting on employee relations matters that respects our policies, our people and our focus on respect.
- Research and contribute to policy changes that make sense for our organization.
- Maintain organized systems for employee and organizational data.
- Prepare benefit and orientation materials, including updating information in a variety of systems.
- Administer benefit programs in a timely and effective way, ensuring that employees receive great service and understand the value of our total rewards package.
- Administer FMLA and safety (worker’s compensation) as needed ensuring confidentiality and accuracy of record keeping.
- Help with employee events (these are awesome, fun and amazing).
- Update & maintain employee files; ensure all required documents are received from supervisors (this isn’t as much fun but it’s all part of being in HR).
- Manage day-to-day interaction in a positive and productive way, bring HR excellence and a spirit of continuous improvement to our team.
Other Fun Things
- Contributes to Deerfield’s goals by working closely with all staff and residents in assisting with administrative support and clerical duties as needed, including scheduling meetings.
- Responsible for handling confidential materials with a high degree of professionalism.
- Some work outside of scheduled hours will be required, due to event timing or other factors.
- And the always famous “other duties as assigned” that might evolve.
Basic Qualifications
3 or more years of experience. Higher education may count towards experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Equivalent experience may serve in place of a degree requirement. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
- The ideal candidate must be well organized with keen attention to detail, able to prioritize, use discretion with sensitive or confidential information, and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- HR certification (SHRM or HRCI) preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a changing environment.
- Proven success with providing exceptional service and a fully proven ability to multi-task.
