Welcome to Presidio of Monterey, home of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center. Located in picturesque Monterey County on California's Central Coast, approximately 85 miles south of San Francisco and 50 miles from the Silicon Valley. With historic ties to the Spanish colonial era, the Presidio of Monterey as U.S. military installation dates to July 7, 1846 when Commodore Sloat landed his troops unopposed in Monterey during the Mexican-American War and first raised the U.S. flag in Alta California, claiming its territories for the United States. Monterey is the last Presidio in California to have an active military installation.

Responsibilities:

MAJOR DUTIESServes as a social worker providing individual and group clinical counseling services using variousevidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for adults to assist clients to identify and managepersonal, psychological, and interactive problems, associated with occupational and personaladjustment. Develops individualized treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis, identified problems and treatment needs for each case. Utilizes social work systems and psychologicaltheories, principals, and techniquesin treatment plan development. Coordinates with patients work environment, social serviceagencies, primary care, specialty clinics and other organizations to promote seamless service andsupport to patients. Provides limited case management to improve individual family andoccupational functioning and mitigate crises. Works closely with multi-disciplinary treatment staff tosynchronize efforts across the continuum of care. Provides emergency on-call crisis managementservices for adult behavioral health cases as designated by the section or department needs.Responsible for documentation which includes: monthly reports on patients seenoutcome/assessment results, clinical issues of significance, and other data as requested.1. Works with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate tosevere psychiatric diagnoses to include factors such as history of trauma, co- occurring conditionsand suicide. Provides individual and group clinical counseling services using various evidencedbased modalities as clinically indicated for adults to assist clients to identify and manage personal,psychological and interactive problems, and to achieve effective personal, occupational, marital,and family development and adjustment: Collects bio-psycho-social information about patientsusing interview, case history, and observation techniques, and assessment methods. Analyzesinformation collected to determine psychiatric diagnosis, treatment plan and/or advisability ofcounseling or referral to other specialists or institutions. Reviews notes and information collected toidentify problems and concerns. Consults reference material, for example the most current versionof the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM), textbooks, manuals, andjournals, to identify symptoms, make diagnoses, and develop therapeutic or treatment plan.Counsels clients, using counseling methods and procedures using approved evidence-basedtreatment modalities to assist clients in gaining insight into personal and interactive problems, todefine goals, and to plan action reflecting interests, abilities, and needs. Evaluates results ofcounseling methods to determine the effectiveness of treatment used. Interacts with otherprofessionals to discuss therapy or treatment, new resources or techniques.

2. Provides case management services to effectively manage patients enrolled in behavioralintensive outpatient behavioral programs and prevent crises. Regularly coordinates with otherclinics, family advocacy program, Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program, installation chaplainservices, Service Member commands, social service agencies, and other organizations that supportthe patient. Where such collaboration does not already exist, takes the lead in developing inter-agency and/or interdisciplinary forums. Continuously assesses and responds to changing needs ofpatients based on deployment cycles or critical events.

3. Executes performance initiatives through revision of clinical standards and procedures. Performsa variety of quality management/quality assurance duties to meet The Joint Commission (TJC) andDepartment of Health Agency (DHA) requirements. Establishes and monitors objective behavioraloutcome measures. Monitors risk management issues and takes appropriate actions. Providesconcise documentation of care and recommendations. Provides reports and approves consults. Skillin written and oral communication especially in case formulation and presentation.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

US Citizenship required

Incumbent must possess a valid and unrestriced license as a clinical social worker from a U.S. State or Territory.

Must possess a Master's degree in Social Work.

Must have one (1) year of experience as a licensed clinical social worker.
