Mechanical Engineer - Dayton, OH

*This position is Awaiting Contract Award*

Job Description: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for developing installation requirements, technical information, airframe production installation/fabrication drawings, engineering instructions, and related production guidance materials as it pertains to the mechanical and structural aspects of a modification program. Will serve as Engineer for DoD and FAA aircraft modification programs and prepares detail, assembly, and installation drawings. Will develop 3-D models and 2-D drawings to support the installation of mechanical and structural provisions. Will participate in engineering design feasibility studies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and support technical quality review of the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid systems and thermal environment to establish the system design.
  • Lead and support activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements.
  • Lead and support the assessment of system components' designs.
  • Track performance and documentation of analyses of mechanisms/ordnance components and systems selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design.
  • Participate in interface requirement and design development.
  • Participate in Technical and Interface Control Working Groups with the customer and suppliers.
  • Supports Risk and Opportunity processes and working groups.
  • Perform coordination of system-level technical reviews.
  • Perform resolution of cross-functional technical issues.
  • Supports trade studies and whitepaper development.
  • Train and coach less-experienced engineers.
  • Operate in a highly flexible work environment.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Experience with military specifications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance with program access.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in aerospace, DoD engineering and manufacturing. 
  • Experience on wide body aircraft including, but not limited to, Boeing 767, 777 and 747. 

Education

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus 5 years engineering experience, or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering plus 3 years engineering experience.
