Job DescriptionMaintains communication/navigation instrument systems in accordance with technical data requirements. Performs tasks under minimum supervision. Coordinates maintenance activities with senior shop personnel as required.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintains T-6 and T-38 comm/nav and instrument systems.
  • Operates ground support equipment
  • Performs operational checks of assigned systems.
  • Open/remove and close/install all aircraft panels, excluding those panels requiring Command and Response, and related system components to include T-38 windscreens to perform specialist maintenance.
  • Participates in and enforces compliance with established FOD prevention housekeeping, tool control, environmental and safety programs.
  • Completes all necessary manual and automated records required by USAF and Company directives.
  • Follows technical data, manuals, regulations, and other maintenance directives as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Classification QualificationsKnowledge - A working knowledge of aircraft comm/nav and instrument systems is required. The ability to interpret and apply information on schematic diagrams, drawings and charts fault isolation and repair of assigned systems and system subassemblies is required.
Education - Completion of high school or equivalent. The ability to read and write and comprehend written and/or verbal orders, instructions and directives is required.
Experience - A minimum of two (2) years' experience in the repair of aircraft comm/nav and instrument systems is required. Experience will include troubleshooting systems to component level and repairing mechanical and electromechanical components. Also, experience will include repairing line replaceable units to component level (i.e. conductor repair and component removal and replacement to include applicable soldering procedures and precautions).
Special Conditions - Must be able to lift a minimum weight of 50 lbs., stand for prolonged periods of time, and have the ability to climb ladders and stairs. Normal color vision is required. Possession of a valid driver's license is necessary to obtain flight line driving privileges.
