Position Description Maricopa County Correctional Health Services Department is seeking a dedicated Documentation Specialist/Technical Writer to join our Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation project. This role will be critical in ensuring comprehensive, clear, and accurate documentation of all phases of the EHR project. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT professionals, healthcare providers, and administrative staff, to create user manuals, training materials, and system documentation. The position will also involve maintaining consistency in documentation practices, managing updates, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Skills Required - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. - Proficiency in technical writing and documentation best practices. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy. - Ability to understand and translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly documentation. - Familiarity with EHR systems and healthcare terminology. - Proficiency with documentation tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Confluence). - Excellent organizational and time-management skills. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently. - Knowledge of document control practices and version management.
Experience Required - Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical writing or documentation specialist roles, preferably within the healthcare or IT sectors. - Demonstrated experience with EHR systems and healthcare documentation. - Proven track record of producing high-quality technical documentation for diverse audiences, including healthcare professionals and IT staff.
Experience Preferred - Experience in participating in large-scale IT implementation projects, particularly in healthcare settings, is highly desirable. - Previous experience working within correctional health environments is a plus.
Education Required - Bachelor s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field or equitable experience.
Education Preferred - Certification in Technical Writing or related discipline is a plus. - Continuing education or training in EHR systems and healthcare IT is advantageous.
