Position overview
Delta Utilities is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to serve as a strategic partner to Delta Utilities’ leadership team, providing expert advice and support in all areas of human resources. This role is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This position will be responsible for aligning HR strategies with business objectives, driving talent management initiatives, and fostering a positive work culture. The HRBP will act as a trusted advisor to management on workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with department leaders to align HR strategies with business goals, ensuring that HR initiatives support the company’s objectives
- Collaborate with leadership to anticipate staffing needs, support recruitment efforts, and facilitate succession planning for key roles
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, handling conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and company policies
- Assist with the performance review process, advise managers on performance improvement plans, and facilitate feedback and development conversations
- Lead initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture, drive employee engagement, and support change management efforts as needed
- Collaborate with the HR team on compensation strategies, ensuring competitiveness of employee benefits
- Identify training needs and facilitate leadership development programs, partnering with external vendors as needed
- Ensure HR policies and procedures comply with legal requirements and industry standards
- Remain up to date on employment laws and ensure organizational compliance
- Analyze HR metrics (e.g., turnover, engagement, performance) to provide insights and recommendations to improve employee retention and satisfaction
- Work closely with the HRIS to optimize HR systems and improve processes related to talent management, onboarding, and employee records
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
- Minimum of five years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a business partner or HR generalist role, experience in the utilities or similar regulated industry is a plus
- Relevant certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar preferred
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws, HR best practices, and strategic HR functions
- Proven ability to partner with leadership teams to align HR initiatives with business objectives
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
- Experience with HRIS systems and data-driven decision-making

Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, the utility will serve nearly 600,000 customers and become one of the leading natural gas providers in Louisiana and Mississippi, as well as one of the top 40 providers in the United States.
In 2023, Entergy announced that it had entered into an agreement with Delta Utilities to sell its Louisiana gas distribution business. The natural gas utility currently serves more than 200,000 customers across East Baton Rouge and Orleans parishes. In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers. Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.
