Summary

Supervises and coordinates activities of team members engaged in proactive and reactive maintenance and repairs to manufacturing equipment, support systems, physical structures of buildings, and site by guiding technicians to successfully complete preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.

Core Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.

· Responsible for Plant Technical Operations including Facilities, Processing Equipment, Utilities, Grounds, etc. for company sites

· Assists with activities in maintenance storeroom, computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), spare parts, inventory, MRO purchasing, PM routines, etc.

· Leads preventative maintenance process, defining processes, driving improvements and determining/achieving KPI targets

· Leads response effort to unplanned downtime events through the technician team and external partners

· Executes production equipment calibrations on recurring intervals to meet quality compliance requirements

· Works with contractors and vendors to solve problems on the plant floor.

· Review daily maintenance effectiveness to identify opportunities for improvement and work with the Operations, Quality and Sanitation teams to achieve satisfactory remedies.

· Ensure development and implementation of action plans to address root causes of failures.

· Lead efforts to ensure compliance in Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Maintenance Systems

· Champion change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts including Lean principles (6S especially).

· Partner with internal customers and suppliers, colleagues and support services to ensure achievement of targets.

· Understand and adhere to internal and external regulations, procedures & policies

· Maintain cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping to GMP/6S standards and ensure all safety standards are met. Owns accountability to these standards.

· Actively participate in various auditing activities and ensure that all department tasks are completed in a timely manner.

· Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.

· Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.

· Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

· Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.

· Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

· Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.

· Ability to perform activities of workers supervised.

· Leads with a can-do attitude while promoting a collaborative work environment. Able to respectfully challenge the status quo and offer options to antiquated or marginally effective methods.

· Other duties as required.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Individuals must determine work priorities and schedule repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. · Ability to work in a team-centered atmosphere and select and train new employees.

· Ability to effectively coach, monitor, and discipline employees.

· Ability to initiate, coordinate, and enforce operational and personnel policies and procedures.

Education and/or Experience

Five (5) years prior experience required in installation, maintenance, and repair of machines and equipment. Two-year associate in machine maintenance and repair or equivalent experience.

Preferred

· (3) years of experience in a food manufacturing environment

· Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and other electronic controls

· Experience in a world class reliability culture

· Knowledge of welding techniques, maintenance, and modifications/upgrades of sanitary equipment

Language Skills

An individual must be able to effectively resolve maintenance problems by often discussing matters with management and quality control personnel. Ability to use effective communication skills with all maintenance staff for the overall operation of the department.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

An individual must be able to meet the physical demands of the job including climbing ladders, bending, stooping, and standing for long periods of time. In addition, individuals must be able to reach above shoulders and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
