JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the CPChem Woodlands Security Supervisor, the Lead Security Officer is responsible for ensuring all shift duties are performed properly. The Lead Security Officer will provide protection of work sites, personnel, and assets from events such as trespassing, theft, vandalism, harassment, assault, and other disruptive incidents. Conduct investigations and perform post duties as assigned. Performing access control is a core function of this position. Comply with DUS and client safety guidelines, policies and procedures. Lead Officer is responsible for communicating client needs/inquiries to the Security Supervisor and/or Security Director.

WORK SCHEDULE: Mon-Thurs/12hr Day

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement, military, corrections, or private security company within the past five years.
  • Minimum 1 year in position(s) of increasing responsibility that required sound decision making and incident/event management.
  • Some officers will be required to have or obtain with 90 days of employment Emergency Medical Responder certification.
  • State of Texas Level II Unarmed Security Officer License (or ability to obtain)
  • Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English.
  • As a condition of employment, must be able to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical evaluation.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform searches of people, vehicles, buildings, and large outdoor areas
  • Confront suspicious persons, assess intentions, and take action as appropriate
  • Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters
  • Extinguish fires by using a fire extinguisher and other appropriate means
  • Effectively and coherently communicate over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications
  • Utilize clear and appropriate communication skills when communicating with people
  • Gather information in investigations by interviewing and obtaining the statements of all participants and witnesses
  • Reduce the results of investigations into written form so as to clearly and accurately reflect the information obtained
  • Read, comprehend, and employ policies and procedures
  • Exercise sound judgment in determining appropriate action when there is a reasonable suspicion to detain, when probable cause exists to search, and when force may be used and to what degree
  • Comprehend, evaluate, and correctly respond to oral information received
  • Maintain composure and control of the situation
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle during both the day and night in a variety of settings and varying weather conditions
  • Conduct visual surveillance for extended periods of time
  • Observe, recall, and distinguish characteristics of persons, suspects, automobiles, location and property
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner
  • Willingness to perform others duties as required
  • Willingness to work at various locations as required

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The majority of work is performed in and around an industrial plant with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The employee’s work requires routine walking, standing, bending, pushing and/or pulling, and carrying items up to 25 lbs. Candidates will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-employment physical.
