Job Description

Job Title: CMM / Scanner Quality Technician

Department: Engineering Services

Reports To: Sr Quality Engineer

FLSA Status: Salary

SUMMARY

Initiates and executes CMM part layouts, programs CMM to measure parts in accordance with engineering and customer requirements as defined by the print. Ability program to use CMM, for product verification, product validation, product annual revalidation and measuring instrument calibration. Manual CMM measurements may be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Must maintain a regular, reliable, consistent and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs part layouts manually and using CMM & Blue Light Scanner including:

  • Part dimensional layout for PPAP submission.
  • Product / Process validation (CPK Studies)
  • Annual product revalidation (CMM Report Record)
  • Measuring instrument calibration
  • Tooling related issues
  • CMM Layouts as needed.
  • Blue Light Scanner layouts as needed. (ZEISS T-SCAN hawk 2)

Provides primary ownership of Metrology related activities:

  • Responsible for oversight of gage calibrations, ensuring no past due calibrations.
  • Maintains Gage Pack including addition of new gages and calibration frequency changes based on historical data.
  • Leads Gage R&R process in compliance with MSA.
  • Works with Engineering to address PPAP and Annual Layout concerns.
  • In conjunction with Operations, ensures good operational condition of all in-house gages.
  • Works with external calibration and layout sources as needed.
  • Assists Engineering with Check Fixture design review.
  • Perform the Weld Analysis.
  • Assists in quality decisions based on customer specifications.
  • Maintains quality system data/records for all part layouts.
  • Provide assistance in trouble-shooting quality related issues.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of all job-related Quality System Policies, Procedures, and Instructions (including 5S).

IMPACT ON CUSTOMER QUALITY Failure to perform these activities will likely result in dissatisfaction to the internal/external customer.

  • Follow established instructions and quality standards.
  • Provides feedback on quality issues.
  • Assists quality department with quality systems as required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates degree in related field and/or minimum of three years experience using a CMM, Blue Light Scanner, and GD&T.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

English Verbal and written communication skills are required to effectively document, train, and interface with DSC personnel and customers as needed.
