Description
The Education Coordinator assists the Director of Education in all aspects of operations of Bansbach Academy.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Facilitate and supervise the completion of academic testing on students including: intake, quarterly and formal assessments for IEP meetings.
  • Communicate with education and treatment teams regarding impact of assessment results.
  • Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings in accordance with Special Education law.
  • Ensure that Special Education documentation is submitted to required parties in a timely manner.
  • Supervise IEP goal development and quarterly documentation of progress and implementation.
  • Assist with training new staff on Special Education/assessment issues and procedures.
  • Assist the Director of Education in developing, implementing and maintaining daytime programming.
  • Evaluate and update transcripts for each High School student each semester.
  • Supervise transition planning for students leaving the Bansbach Academy to enter a new school or world of work.
  • Supervise the LIFE! program and LIFE! education staff.
  • Serve as Acting Director in the absence of the Director of Education.
  • Support behavior management of clients to include implementing the DCH level system and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
  • Document and report significant incidents per DCH procedures (i.e. Critical Incident Reports, suspension information).
  • Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with staff working on other shifts and in other departments as well as school district staff.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Experience
  • Professional/Provisional CDE teaching license with Special Education endorsement
  • MA in Education/Special Education Field or related field (preferred)
  • 2 years experience working with students with significant emotional disabilities and perceptual/communicative disorders (preferred)
  • Working Towards a principal/director license (preferred)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Special Education regulations (IDEA and ECEA)
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement behavior management interventions
  • Must be able to manage oneself appropriately in a highly stressful environment.
  • Must understand and be able to implement short-term crisis interventions.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to work as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, e-mail).
  • Must possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the team, students, parents, and outside professionals.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a high stress environment.
  • Willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to multi-task.
Other Requirements
  • Must have a valid Colorado Driver's license and a driving record that qualifies for DCH insurance coverage.
  • Pass the agency's driver certification, TCI, First Aid/CPR and QMAP.
  • Must pass a background check.
SCHEDULE
  • This position requires the education coordinator to work year-round. On non student contact days this position will work with the daytime program coordinator for residential programming.
  • This Position accrues paid vacation and personal time.
