A
bout this job:

  • Prepare materials and classroom for instruction and class activities
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulation.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injury and damage.
  • Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
  • Instruct students in the knowledge and skills required in a specific occupation or occupational field, using a systematic plan of lectures, discussions, audio-visual presentations, and laboratory, shop and field studies.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
  • Assign and grade class work and homework.
  • Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.
  • Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and to determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
  • Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
  • Prepare objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, as required.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs for the benefit of the student.

What You'll Do:

  • Utilize a curriculum map, plan lessons, deliver assessments, etc,
  • Instruct and demonstrate how to apply knowledge and to develop skills
  • Demonstrate and supervise the safe and proper use of tools and equipment ? Monitor students' progress, assign tasks, and grade assignments
  • Discuss students' progress with parents, students, and counselors
  • Develop and enforce classroom rules and safety procedures
  • Meet expectations as assigned by administration

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related industry credential. Bachelor’s degree acceptable for certain content areas, required; In some content areas, must have completed or be willing to complete required curriculum training related to content.
  • Master’s Degree in related field preferred in all content areas and required for certain content areas with college coursework
  • Three (3 ) years of professional industry experience in the content area within the past 7 years or in the time designated by the Colorado Department of Education.
  • Three (3 ) years of experience working with diverse populations.
  • Adjunct status with a community college in content area, strongly preferred.
  • Must possess or have the ability to acquire appropriate secondary
    Career and Technical Education authorization/endorsement
    from Colorado Department of Education.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferred.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
