Denver Rescue Mission is Hiring a Director of Organizational Development Near Denver, CO

Description

Position Summary

This position plays a critical role in creating training and organizational development (OD) strategies that align Denver Rescue Mission priorities, staff development and engagement, and culture. This role is responsible for needs assessment and designing, developing, and deploying a strategic training and organizational development program which builds organizational capabilities and supports the development of a competent and engaged workforce.

Responsibilities 

  • Develops, implements, and manages new hire orientation, organizational onboarding (Meet the Mission), and other training programs to ensure new hires are onboarded effectively.
  • Develops, implements and manages OD programs, including but not limited to, employee development, leadership development, and succession planning/career pathing to increase employee engagement, and to develop and retain key talent.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources team members on safety and risk management trainings such as de-escalation, active shooter, first aid, and other related areas.
  • Identifies short and long-term skill gaps. Manages development investments to close gaps, accelerate internal development, retain high performers, and ensure development of emerging talent.
  • Supports VP of Human Resources in developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging) program that values employees and our guests and participants.
  • Identifies and manages learning needs, recommends and implements solutions and evaluates learning through metrics.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to the Senior Leadership Team on organizational development needs and strategies.
  • Provide systems of evaluation and feedback to assess effectiveness of programs and opportunities for enhancement. 
  • Provides guidance to departments and respective leaders to enhance effectiveness of their assigned areas.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure effective, comprehensive, integrated OD programs.
  • Foster a culture of grace amongst staff that orients them around the mission of meeting individuals at their physical and spiritual points of need.
  • Oversee outcome measurement process and focus program effectiveness efforts on design, implementation, and execution of program improvements.
  • Work with Program and HR leadership to enable continuous skill and knowledge improvement, i.e., assessing needs, evaluation alternative, designing and facilitating effective in-house and third-party training.
  • Research and recommend opportunities for educational growth and maintain professional relationships with peers in similar organizations. Stays abreast of trends, emerging technologies and strategies, and best practices.
  • Work alongside Vice President of Human Resources and across teams to provide leadership and project management in roll-out of program redesign initiatives and efforts.
  • Convene meetings with key staff members that promote collaboration, teamwork and personal accountability.
  • Represent the Mission at meetings and events, and on committees and task forces as directed.
  • Perform other tasks, participate in project management teams, and complete additional duties as assigned. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, occupational training, organization development / management, public administration, business management, or a related field.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience in training, integrated organizational design and development, workforce strategy, talent and leadership development, DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging), or related functions. (A combination of education and experience can be substituted).
  • Experience with developing new training program curriculum, enhancing existing training programs, and determining needs for both.
  • Experience with strategic planning, process improvement, and/or training program development and training needs assessments.
  • Strong background in leading and delivering cultural transformation.
  • Solid understanding of styles or modes of adult learning.
  • Ability to work throughout the organization through influence and credibility.
  • Ability to be curious, bold, and innovative in identifying areas of continuous improvement to improve the organization’s ability to meet its mission, vision, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and coordinate meetings, events, and trainings.
  • Have a thirst for knowledge and growth.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and relationship building skills. 
  • Solid understanding of succession planning/career pathing strongly desired.
  • Understanding of DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging) concepts strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of individuals and families experiencing homelessness or within human services field desired.
  • Active Driver’s License as a limited amount of work-related travel may be required occasionally to various facilities.
  • Must be a Christian holding to the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith, expressed by a personal testimony and Christian conduct.
