CSH has proudly been serving citizens of the Commonwealth since 1870, when we opened our doors as the first psychiatric hospital in the country dedicated to the treatment of African Americans. A new and modern CSH is currently under construction on the same property, with a scheduled completion date of 2027. CSH maintains the only maximum-security treatment facility in the state (111 beds). We also have 166 beds available for individuals in the community who need inpatient care, as well as individuals in the criminal justice system. We believe that treatment should be holistic and focused on the person’s individual needs, recognizing that recovery is not linear or the same for every person. Treatment modalities may include medication, evidence-based group and individual therapy, peer support, psychosocial rehabilitation, vocational training, preparation for court, and treatment for substance use. The Crisis Prevention and Response Team (CPRT) Coordinator oversees the security and behavioral crisis response within civil units of the hospital. This role involves managing a team of CPRT officers, ensuring adherence to hospital and departmental policies, and providing organization and training for an effective Crisis Prevention and Response program. The supervisor is responsible for leading the team in maintaining safety, promoting a therapeutic environment, and optimizing patient care during emergencies. This position includes overseeing crisis interventions, ensuring protocol compliance, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. Additionally, the supervisor will be a key resource in de-escalation strategies, crisis management, and staff development. Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License
Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies
Experience using Microsoft Office software
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Successfully Perform the Work:
Must demonstrate excellent decision-making, judgement, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Able to work effectively under pressure in emergency situations.
Physical ability to respond quickly to emergency situations, which may include running, lifting, or engaging in physical restraint with patients.
Additional Considerations
Supervisory/leadership experience
Experience working in a mental health setting and/or experience in a correctional/security setting
Advanced educational degree in psychology or a related clinical field (PREFERRED)
