Job DutiesCSH is a 277 bed inpatient psychiatric hospital led by a team committed to the pursuit of excellence in serving individuals with mental health needs. Central State Hospital (CSH), a State of Virginia mental health hospital located near Petersburg, VA, is recruiting for Full-Time EVS Technicians to maintain established levels of cleanliness and orderliness in an assigned area by application of proper methods and materials. As an EVS Technician, you will perform routine assignments in accordance with a pre-established pattern using set methods and techniques.
Job Duties:
  • Daily clean floors in assigned areas by sweeping, dust mopping and wet mopping that includes moving furniture to clean areas underneath and behind;
  • Machine scrub floor areas using floor scrubbing machines and wet capacity vacuum cleaners to pick up scrubbing solution and vacuums carpeted areas in accordance with established schedule;
  • Perform extensive floor maintenance, stripping and refinishing of floors areas and shampoo/extraction of carpeted floors when needed;
  • Daily clean and disinfect bath and shower areas in individual and administrative buildings following correct procedures;
  • Daily scrub bathroom floors using scrubbing machine and/or deck brush, especially around commodes;
  • Daily wash walls in shower stalls and bathroom areas;
  • Daily clean and disinfect basins and commodes;
  • Daily polish bright works and mirrors;
  • Daily replenish bathroom supplies, towels, toilet tissue, soap, etc.;
  • Unload clean linen carts and stock linen on shelves upon delivery by laundry department;
  • Check equipment and report inoperative equipment to supervisor as soon as it is discovered;
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
  • General knowledge of and experience with cleaning methods and the use of cleaning supplies
  • Knowledge of and experience with safety practices related to housekeeping work
  • Ability to follow written and oral instruction to perform required task
  • Ability to lift and stand for extended periods of time and perform manual repetitive labor.
