Duties * Maintains Internet based personnel security and access control databases for faculty, support staff, students and contractor personnel. * Implements building access restrictions and ensures controls comply with applicable regulations and guidelines. * Escorts personnel to controlled access areas. * Performs inspections of work areas to ensure compliance with maintenance, physical security, and safety guidelines. * Submits work orders for non-routine and emergency maintenance. * Prepares a variety of statistical and narrative reports to keep management apprised of access control issues. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. * Must possess some typing skill, but less than that of a qualified typist. * May be required to stand for extended periods of time. * May be required to work outside during inclement weather. * The incumbent of this position is required to wear a uniform while on duty. * This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. * In the event of an emergency (e.g., inclement weather, disaster coverage, etc.), employee may be required to report for duty outside of scheduled shift. * Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle. * Must be able to obtain certification in the operation of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within 6 months of entrance on duty and must maintain current certification while in the position. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
