Department of Social Services is Hiring a STUDENT ASSISTANT Near Riverside, CA

THE CALIFORNIA CHILDREN'S RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM RIVERSIDE NORTH REGIONAL OFFICE IS RECRUITING FOR A STUDENT ASSISTANT POSITION. THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN RIVERSIDE, CA.
Under the close supervision of the Regional Manager or designee, the Student Assistant will work in a learning-centered environment and assist in the analysis and review of Special Incident Reports (SIRs), along with other special projects or assignments. The Student Assistant may work with the Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) and/or the Licensing Program Managers (LPMs) in the Regional Office.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proof of application for, or enrollment as a student in an appropriate college or university program, such as a copy of the official college/university transcript must be presented. Special Requirements:
  • All interested applicants are required to include the position number and job control number on the STD 678 Examination/Employment Application in the Job Title section.
  • This is a non-testing classification, therefore anyone meeting the minimum qualifications listed on the classification specification may apply for this position. In compliance with Government Code 18220, the hiring supervisor shall provide preference to qualified job applicants who are, or have been, dependent children in foster care, homeless youth, or formerly incarcerated youth. This preference shall be granted to applicants up to 26 years of age. If you are applying under this eligibility status, please note on your application your eligibility by stating “preference under Government Code section 18220”. Please note that prior to appointment, individuals claiming preference under one of these categories will be required to furnish documentation establishing their eligibility.
  • Subject to fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The Student Assistant may work no more than 1500 hours in a calendar year.
The Student Assistant has contact with staff from CCLD, CDSS and various other state agencies and the general public. Failure to exercise judgment on sensitive information could result in negative public image.
The Student Assistant will be working in a team setting. Desired qualifications include: good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to analyze reports accurately, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and maintain professionalism in the office environment.

Special Requirements

Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. Training and Development assignments are temporary in nature and shall not exceed twenty-four (24) months.

Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for an appointment.
