Department of Technology is Hiring an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I Near Sacramento, CA

Stakeholder Relations oversees activities that directly connect our staff with leadership of key stakeholder groups to ensure the development and maintenance of strong business and IT service cost recovery partnerships. By hosting recurring roundtables, briefings, and forums, we serve to establish a clear line of communication with our stakeholders, IT associations, individuals, departmental staff, and more. We also coordinate internal and external events for the department, such as large meetings, conferences, forums, non-legal mediation, and educational events; and identify opportunities for key staff to represent the California Department of Technology (CDT) at industry conferences at the state, national, and global levels.

Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I (IT Mgr I), Stakeholder Relations Manager, the Information Technology Specialist I (IT Spec I) will be responsible for managing relationships between the CDT and a variety of stakeholders interested in CDT information technology (IT) initiatives, including customers, advocates, lobbyists, vendors, and other governmental officials. The incumbent is expected to exercise a high degree of confidentiality, initiative, business acumen, organization, responsibility, and independence in the performance of assigned tasks.

Working Conditions

  • Works in an office environment; may be required to carry a cell phone or other mobile communication device.
  • Use a laptop computer at meetings and other events; use desktop virtualization software from off-site locations; access various CDT applications or systems for information and data analysis; and use instant messaging and other IT tools to enhance communication.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple locations in the Sacramento area, as well as work evenings and weekends on an as-needed basis.

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS (SOQ) REQUIRED

All interested applicants are required to submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). You must provide direct responses to each of the numbered items listed below.   • Technical experience on a wide range of IT subjects, including IT system design, testing, implementation, administration, and evaluation.
  • Ability to define business and technical requirements, evaluate plans and outcomes, develop and modify processes and procedures, and lead the development of IT documents, such as Project Approval Lifecycle documents, RFPs, and Budget Change Proposals.
  • Ability to establish priorities and accurately assess problems and possible resolutions.
  • Experience in technology industry communications, marketing and design.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with a diverse set of people of varied backgrounds and interests.
  • Ability to apply public relations, crisis communications, and strategic communication research and methodologies to address specific IT Stakeholder problems or issues.
  • Experience in public relations and/or marketing.
  • Self-starter who can exercise initiative and think creatively to communicate information.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple changing, competing priorities to complete tasks in tight timeframes.
