Summary You will serve as a PROJECT ENGINEER in the Test Engineering & Planning Division (Code 121) of PSNS and IMF. Duties * You will be responsible for integrating project work in connection with new, overhaul, alterations, repair maintenance and testing of OED equipment for assigned availabilities and projects of submarines, surface ships and barges. * You will be assigned engineering projects that cover all phases of Shipyard work on systems and components, as well as all other OED systems, components, and structures. * You will be the primary representative for Code 120T on coordinating Ocean Engineering Projects. * You will be responsible for guiding, coordinating, monitoring, integrating and reporting, on a project basis, the Code 120T effort being carried out for specific ships or projects. * You will serve as the point of contact for communications between the program manager, project, and Code 120T. * You will develop and coordinate development of Ocean Engineering Projects for both maintenance and new development. * You will ensure tracking of Ocean Engineering Products, coordinate interfaces management, change management, and ILS product development and testing. * You will coordinate development of lifecycle and sustainment support for items that are in-service within their AOR. * You will provide estimates to Program Managers and/or Project Managers which have the highest level of accuracy obtainable at any given point in time when estimates are requested. * Develop schedules of OE Engineering Technical products and coordinate with cognizant branch heads to support the schedule. * You will track and verify design and test requirements are completed. * You will develop new design test plans. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. * Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. * You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. * Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. * This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. * You will be subject to counterintelligence scope polygraph prior to hiring and random after hiring and required at least every 5 years during employment. Qualifications For the GS-13 General Engineer position:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying project management principles to multiple engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, electrical, structural) to plan, develop, and coordinate work packages for submarine, surface ship, and barge projects. For the GS-12 General Engineer position:

To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration.
