ResponsibilitiesThe Department of Modern Languages at DePaul University in Chicago is accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Professor of Instruction in German for the 2024-25 academic year, beginning in Fall 2024. Responsibilities will include teaching 8 courses (2-3-3), either in German at various levels in the German Program (including advanced topics courses) or in English for DePaul’s Liberal Studies Program. Additional duties are related to the oversight of the German Program (course development and promotion, student advising, organizing quarterly events, and working with our student organization). The scholarly background for this position is open, though scholarship that focuses on contemporary Germany is preferred.

Required QualificationsRequired qualifications include:
- Native or near-native proficiency in German;
- A minimum of a Master's degree in German Studies or a closely related field (PhD or ABD preferred);
- A minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college or post-secondary level;
- Demonstrated experience in course development.
- a current curriculum vitae;
- a cover letter that addresses applicant’s area of scholarship, teaching pedagogy, and teaching experience;
- three letters of recommendation;
- at least one year’s worth of student course evaluations; and
- sample teaching materials.
