Job Duties

The Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents (CCCA) is looking for a full time Director of Psychology to direct the Psychology Department to ensure that CCCA provides quality psychology services and treatment while meeting all internal and external regulations; provide high quality acute psychiatric evaluation, crisis stabilization, and intensive short-term treatment that empowers children and their families to make developmentally appropriate choices and that strengthens children's hope, resilience, and self-esteem; and provide comprehensive assessment of behavioral and emotional functioning with focus upon referral problems and identified needs, using psychometric measures as indicated.
The Director of Psychology will actively supervise members of nonmedical clinical services, ensuring the provision of high-quality assessment and treatment; provide active clinical leadership across units and disciplines; conducts Forensic Evaluations as assigned; provide individual, family, and group therapies which are consonant with identified treatment needs and cognitive/developmental levels as specified in the Individualized Treatment Plan; support the hospital's trauma-informed model of care; ensure that all Knowledge Center mandatory trainings are completed during evaluation period.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology, with specialized child and adolescent training
  • clinical experience with children and adolescents
  • licensed as a clinical psychologist in Virginia
  • considerable knowledge of psychosocial service delivery, diagnostic evaluations, treatment, testing, and evaluation
  • considerable knowledge of clinical psychology
  • considerable knowledge of administration of mental health services
  • considerable knowledge of supervision
  • considerable knowledge of psychological research and crisis counseling
  • demonstrated ability to organize, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive program of psychological service delivery
  • ability to write quality assurance reports
  • ability to supervise the work of professional staff and to provide psychotherapy in group and individualized settings
