Job Duties

Provides mid-level administrative and clerical support to the Administration department of Operations, while maintaining individual production requirements, in support of the unit and agency mission. Updates and maintains records, files and in automated databases.
This facility is located in the rural Northern Neck approximately 1.5 hours northeast of the City of Richmond. Successful candidates must be willing to work in this geographic location.
This is a wage position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12 month period of May 1 – April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have High School Diploma or equivalent: recent working experience providing customer and administrative support to include composing letters, memos, word processing, data entry, filing and other related duties in an professional office setting; working experience in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel to accomplish office support requirements; experience with inputting data into an automated database other than Microsoft Office; working experience using office equipment (i.e. computers, printers, copier, fax machine and a multi-line communication system); the ability to organize work, meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner; experience/skilled in communicating with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information; the ability to perform mathematical calculations and work with numerical data; the ability to set up and maintain automated and manual filing systems; and the ability to maintain and update inventory.

Additional Considerations

Additional Considerations: post-secondary courses in office administration or certification in office administration or equivalent training or experience in a related field, administrative experience in a criminal justice, court, or law office setting. Experience with case-management database or an automated database other than Microsoft Office. Bilingual ability with English/Spanish helpful.
