DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT is Hiring an Organizational Development Specialist Near Virginia, VA

FLSA Status: Exempt

Grade: 19, Educational Support Salary Scale (223 Contract Days)

Revision Date: 6/1/24

Location: Central Office

JOB SUMMARY

Under the leadership of the Supervisor for Organizational Development and Equity, this position assists with planning, developing, coordinating, facilitating, and monitoring professional learning programs in the division. The position plays an essential role in onboarding and developing new educators and collaborates with administrators, instructional leaders, mentors, and other specialists to facilitate a comprehensive support system and personalized professional learning to meet their unique needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports division improvement priorities through the development of professional learning opportunities for leaders, teachers, and support employees
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to identify professional needs and enhance systemic professional learning
  • Assesses the impact of professional learning, including course evaluations and monitoring effective implementation and follow-up support
  • Maintains and monitors the division’s learning management system for planning, promoting, delivering, and tracking professional development
  • Coordinates and manages all phases of the new educator induction program in alignment with state guidelines
  • Consults with administrators, instructional leaders, teachers, and mentors to identify, develop, and present a variety of professional learning experiences to meet the unique needs of new teachers
  • Facilitates reflective practices that enable new teachers and mentors to identify strengths and opportunities for continuous growth
  • Observes teachers and provides targeted coaching and feedback for enhancement of the learning environment, instructional practices, and responding to student needs (upon request)
  • Maintains required data collection and submits reports for state and federal programs
  • Tracks the assignment of new teacher mentors, including awarding stipend allocations and recertification points
  • Collaborates with Human Resources to promote pathways to licensure and support new educators in these programs
  • Engages in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices and collaborates with regional partners to create networks of support and innovation in professional learning
  • Models the division’s core values: Individualism, Integrity, Innovation, Accountability and Collaboration
  • Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

  • Master’s degree in education or related field
  • Valid professional license issued by the Virginia Department of Education is required
  • Administration and Supervision PreK-12 endorsement is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of classroom experience with a demonstrated understanding of effective teaching practices for a variety of learners
  • Exemplary classroom management skills
  • Experience with mentorship and/or coaching are required
  • Knowledge of the principles and methodologies of adult learning with demonstrated experiences in sharing that knowledge with colleagues through formal and informal professional learning activities
  • Exceptional skills in written and verbal communication, with the ability to deliver and articulate oral presentations
  • Experience with digital communication design is preferred
  • Demonstrate good work habits to include managing multiple projects at once and the efficient use of time and resources

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Duties are normally performed in an office environment. Frequent contact with staff. Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
