Derflan, Inc. is Hiring a Political Operations Project Manager Near Redmond, WA

Derflan is hiring a Political Operations Project Manager for an 18-month contract at Microsoft. This individual will work closely with owners of key programs on elections, international projects, and corporate civic responsibility, providing operational project support and strategic counsel. The role combines comprehensive vision with a detail-oriented approach. The ideal candidate will have over 3-5 years of relevant experience in elections and/or civic engagement, disinformation, or public policy, ideally in an operational capacity, and will bring strong project management and communication skills to the position.

Microsoft FTE or Contract experience required

Active Role: Need to present candidate in the next 48 hours

Hybrid role: Would like someone who can be in Redmond, WA, or Washington, DC office 2 days per week.

Annual Base Salary: Compensation ranges from $95,000 to $110,000 annually, customized to align with individual salary expectations and based on experience and qualifications. Final salary is contingent upon the client's budget.

Start: July 2024

End: 18 months from start date, potential to extend

Hours: 40 hr/wk

Top Required Hard Skills Required Years of Experience:

1. Minimum 3 years’ experience with writing & editing reports related to mis-/disinformation.

2. Minimum 3 years’ experience with political issues spaces (such as working on a political campaign, elections office, a non-profit supporting elections integrity, political journalism/human rights spaces, think tanks, etc.).

3. Minimum 3 years’ experience with budget and operational/program management support experience.

4. Minimum 1 year experience as a contract or FTE employee at Microsoft

Responsibilities include:

Operations:

  • Providing operational project support, including scheduling, note-taking, processing purchase order requests, invoicing, and maintaining internal SharePoint sites.
  • Supporting 3rd party vendor and partner relationships to ensure Microsoft project requirements are met.
  • Managing rhythm of business: support regular key performance indicator reviews, pillar and project budget, and rhythm of business.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of internal reporting and communications processes.

Project Management:

  • Engaging with program/process owners, stakeholders, and business partners to communicate project objectives, strategy, tactics, and ongoing progress.
  • Supporting development and implementation of strategic plans and projects within team pillars.
  • Helping to scale, evaluate, and expand existing programs.
  • Supporting international project portfolio, as well as elections and civic engagement projects.

Communications:

  • Developing and delivering written products and presentation materials to communicate team positions, strategy, and thought leadership.
  • Developing and managing organizational assets including Walking decks, Team Policies & Procedures, Team websites, SharePoint sites, and Teams channels.
  • Responding to internal and external stakeholder needs in a timely manner.

Skills / experience required:

3-5 years of relevant experience in elections and/or civic engagement, disinformation, or public policy, ideally in an operational capacity.

Experience managing and overseeing budgets and/or project planning.

Proven capabilities to drive positive business results through cross-group collaboration and partnerships.

Knowledge and experience with democratic processes as well as trends in election interference and influence operations from both US and international perspectives.

Self-starter, used to working in decentralized/virtual teams, with a proven ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to distill large amounts of information concisely.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail is an absolute must.

Outstanding cross-functional project management skills to organize a busy workload and deliver projects on time.

Excellent written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

Knowledge of Microsoft's products/services/applications preferred.

Experience with, or interest in, Artificial Intelligence tools a plus.
