Destination Dayton is the destination marketing organization for Dayton/Montgomery County, Ohio. Our Mission is to collaboratively lead and advocate for the development of the region’s visitor economy, which contributes to a thriving community, a diverse tax base and lifestyle amenities for everyone to enjoy.
Destination Dayton is seeking a dynamic, collaborative team leader to direct and lead the Sales and Services department. The Director of Sales and Services is responsible for developing and implementing long- and short-term sales strategies and budgets to ensure achievement of goals and will hire, train and motivate a successful sales and services team. This is a full-time on-site position located in Dayton with the possibility of 1-2 remote work days per week. Must be willing to travel. A minimum of five years of experience in a sales leadership position with a destination marketing organization, hotel or related travel industry organization preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Hospitality Industry or related area or equivalent work experience desired.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Director of Sales & Services
Reports to: President & CEO
Position DescriptionThe Director of Sales & Services will hire, train, provide leadership, supervise, and direct the sales and services efforts of all Sales Managers, the Services Manager and the Sales & Services Administrative Assistant in conducting the following:
ü Monitor the preparation and follow-up action and assess the effectiveness of all sales/services programs, including individual sales trips, staff attendance at industry meetings/trade shows, FAMs, sales blitzes, etc. and recommend follow-up action to President & CEO.
ü Spearhead Destination Dayton’s monthly meeting with the county’s hotels/motels, attractions/venues.
ü Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports on sales/services activity and performance. Insure their timely submission.
ü Prepare monthly Pace and sales update reports including forecasting.
ü Promote Dayton/Montgomery County as a convention/trade show destination to assigned Director of Sales & Services accounts.
Position RequirementsEducation:
ü College undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in area related to sales with hospitality sales emphasis.
Skills:
ü Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner; develop and implement comprehensive sales programs; motivate a staff of varying skills and personalities; and organize annual sales effort.
Position RelationshipsIndustry Associations and Organizations
ü Maintains memberships and actively participates in meetings, conferences and trade shows related to position.
Markets
ü In conjunction with Director of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships responsible for development and monitoring of all sales markets. Progress/success based on specific team and individual goals determined on an annual basis.
Budget
ü Participate in annual budget process and daily management of Sales & Services budget.
Position RelationshipsProjects
ü Responsible for complete planning, execution and follow-up of certain projects as assigned by the President & CEO including but not limited to the timely completion of monthly, quarterly and annual sales reports.
Finance Department
ü Cooperate in following policies and procedures necessary in order to maintain sound fiscal controls including but not limited to the timely and accurate submission of expense reports by sales staff.
Other CharacteristicsOther Relevant Aspects of Position
ü Requires overtime and varied hours and travel for meetings, trade shows, etc. Weekend work and irregular hours may be required.
ü Other duties as assigned.
ü Ability to travel by air, drive a vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license throughout employment.
