Devcare is Hiring a Behavior Specialist Near Harrisburg, PA

Responsibilities

  • Assessment and Evaluation:
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to understand the causes and functions of specific behaviors.
  • Analyze data collected from observations, interviews, and questionnaires.
  • Intervention Planning:
  • Develop individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on assessment results.
  • Design and implement evidence-based interventions to modify challenging behaviors and reinforce positive behaviors.
  • Implementation and Monitoring:
  • Train and support caregivers, teachers, and other professionals in implementing behavior plans.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and make adjustments as needed.
  • Collaboration and Consultation:
  • Work collaboratively with a team of professionals, including teachers, therapists, and healthcare providers.
  • Provide consultation and training to organizations and institutions on best practices in behavior management.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed records of assessments, interventions, and progress.
  • Prepare reports for stakeholders, including parents, schools, and funding agencies.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background:
  • Typically, a master's degree in psychology, applied behavior analysis (ABA), special education, or a related field is required.
  • Some positions may require a doctoral degree, especially for advanced roles or those involving research.
  • Certification:
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification is highly recommended and often required.
  • Certification requires completing specific coursework, supervised fieldwork, and passing the BCBA exam.
