Dewberry is Hiring a Business Unit Manager Near Fairfax, VA

Job DescriptionThe Business Unit Manager will be primarily responsible for the strategic development and growth and overall operational performance of Dewberry’s Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural (MEPS) business unit i n Fairfax, Virginia . Priority will be on building capacity, talent, new services, and growing the client base in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
The successful candidate will be a Professional Engineer with a diverse background and evidence of strong advancement in management responsibilities. The candidate will have demonstrated expertise and success in managing and motivating multiple discipline teams, developing, and executing client and business development strategies that drive revenue and profit margin growth, and partnering with internal and external partners. The selected candidate must understand and have in-depth public and private sector market knowledge and experience, and client relationships in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Responsibilities
  • Growing diverse MEPS engineering services through leadership and coordination of business development efforts among the Service Lines, Business Unit client/project managers, technical and operational staff.
  • Strong leadership skills, goal driven, adept at attracting and developing talent.
  • Comfortable and successful in client and business development, pre-positioning for long term opportunities.
  • Strong communicator, motivator, and influencer for managing an entrepreneurial initiative that will bridge current capabilities with a forward-looking vision of Dewberry’s future in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
  • Ability to mobilize, organize and energize cross-functional teams for success in winning and delivering complex projects.
  • Strategic thinker, bringing market-facing ideas and strategies, new services, and expertise to decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Highly motivated to achieve annual business goals while at the same time investing and building for longer term growth and stability.
  • Sophisticated understanding of the engineering market in Mid-Atlantic Region
  • Able to work closely and productively with Dewberry enterprise leadership to drive positive results.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong trusting relationships (internal to an organization and external with clients and teaming partners).
  • Active involvement in leadership of industry organizations. Interest and ability to present at conferences and lead teams to participate in brand-elevating activities.
  • Team player and mentor.

    • Minimum 20 years of experience as a MEPS consulting engineer.
    • Minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience in managing diverse MEPS engineering teams and a lead operational role with P&L responsibilities.
    • Thorough understanding of the Mid-Atlantic market; strong relationships with decision-makers in public agencies and/or relationships with private entities.
    • Bachelor of Engineering Degree; advanced engineering degree a plus.
    • PE.
    • 15 years’ experience in project management
