Job Title: Lab Technician
Location: Florence SC
Duration: 12 months
Summary:

Provides daily support for the regular functions of the PR&D laboratory operations. Assists the chemists by providing daily housekeeping for the labs, maintaining the chemical inventory, ensuring that all the laboratories are in compliance with safety and regulatory rules, cleaning equipment and glassware, and completing other lab support duties.

Essential Functions:

* Follow all Standard Operating Procedures and Environmental Health & Safety requirements
* Maintain chemical inventory, fulfill chemical requests and place orders
* Maintain general supplies inventory
* Collect and wash laboratory glassware
* Assist with waste disposal of satellite solid waste containers
* General housekeeping
o Sweeping
o Mopping
o Dusting
* Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment
o Ice rotovap traps
o Reactor and rotovap cleaning
o Calibrate lab bench scales
* Provide support in nonGMP and GMP setting
o Cleaning and setting up glassware
o Filling solvents
o Assisting as second pair of hands
o Verifying operations
* Refill solvents cans
* Assist in regular laboratory chemical pack outs
* Assist Lab manager
* Participate in large scale cleanouts and organizing projects
* Actively engage and assist coworkers to become a valuable team member
* Perform all required documentation work
* Independently organize workspace for maximum efficiency (5S)
* Perform tasks in a proactive manner
* Maintain work areas and laboratory spaces in a clean and compliant manner
* Adapt schedule and priorities to meet business needs

Minimum education:

High School diploma or GED

Experience:

No prior experiences are required. Experience in a fine chemicals or pharmaceutical laboratory is desired.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about laboratory locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, crouch periodically, manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-25 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Will use safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, nitrile or similar gloves, safety apron, and organic respirator (occasionally).
