Job Description

[Company Name] is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Apigee Engineer to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate will have over 9 years of solid experience in API management, container orchestration, and cloud platforms, with a strong background in Google Apigee, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, and API gateway technologies. This role requires a strategic thinker who can drive innovation and ensure our API infrastructure is robust, secure, and scalable.

Responsibilities

• API Management: Architect, design, and develop API proxies on the Google Apigee platform. Ensure APIs are secure, scalable, and optimized for performance.
• Container Orchestration: Lead the deployment and management of applications using Kubernetes. Ensure efficient container orchestration, scaling, and resilience.
• Containerization: Utilize Docker to create, manage, and deploy containerized applications. Ensure containers are optimized and running efficiently.
• Platform Management: Implement and manage applications on OpenShift. Ensure the platform's high availability, security, and performance.
• API Gateway: Design and implement robust API gateway solutions. Ensure APIs are exposed securely and efficiently to external and internal consumers.
• Security: Implement advanced security best practices for APIs and containerized applications, including OAuth, JWT, mutual TLS, and other authentication mechanisms.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Set up advanced monitoring and logging for API services and containerized applications. Troubleshoot issues and ensure high availability.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, and architecture teams to design and implement innovative solutions that meet business requirements.
• Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and best practices.

Required Skills

• Experience: Minimum of 9 years of solid experience in API management and container orchestration.
• Google Apigee: Extensive experience in architecting, designing, developing, and managing API proxies using Google Apigee.
• Kubernetes: Expert proficiency in deploying and managing applications using Kubernetes. Experience with Helm charts and Kubernetes operators.
• Docker: Advanced experience in creating and managing Docker containers. Familiarity with Docker Compose and Docker Swarm.
• OpenShift: Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift for managing containerized applications. Deep understanding of OpenShift architecture and components.
• API Gateway: Extensive experience with API gateway technologies and best practices for API management and security.
• Cloud Platforms: In-depth experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), AWS, or Azure.
• DevOps Practices: Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and DevOps practices.
• Programming Languages: Advanced skills in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
• Security: Comprehensive knowledge of API security best practices, including OAuth, JWT, mutual TLS, and other authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Monitoring Tools: Advanced experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Google Cloud Apigee Certified, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift.
• Experience: Prior experience in a similar senior-level role within a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Education

• Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
