Description
Leidos is seeking a Junior UX Designer to be part of the mission solution and help lead SSA’s Digital Modernization Strategy. Join one of our high performing teams responsible for building the next-generation enterprise APIs and modern responsive user interfaces, supporting the Social Security Administration (SSA) and their mission to meet the changing needs of the public, positively impacting at least 65 million American lives per month. We are a team of forward-looking professionals in need of a strong candidate with these key required skills : Some knowledge of user-centered design (UCD) principles to include documenting user requirements and user needs (and pain points); Interaction/Interface design experience utilizing user-centered methods; designing and conducting formative various user research tests (including user interviews, contextual inquiry, card sorting, usability tests, and others) in both formal and informal settings; and experience preparing and presenting findings and recommendations in small and large group settings

• Derive business processes, analyze user needs, assist in requirements definition, design browser-based interfaces, and design and conduct usability testing
• Elicit business goals and user needs from stakeholders
• Facilitate customer discovery sessions
• Create Conceptual Models, Journey Maps, Personas and Scenarios of Use
• Create and refine screen prototypes
Document user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendationsFOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS ( Basic Qualifications )

• Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis
• BS Degree and a minimum of 2 years of direct Interaction/Interface design experience in User-Centered Methods and User Analysis
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. Contract requirement.
*** Selected candidate must reside within two (2) hours of SSA Headquarters in Woodlawn, MD
*** Selected candidate must be willing to work on-site at least 2 days a week.
FACTORS TO HELP YOU SHINE ( Required Skills )
These skills will help you succeed in this position:

• Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical topics as well as interface with the customer on a daily basis
• Minimum of 2 years direct Interaction/Interface design experience in User-Centered Methods and User Analysis
• Minimum of 2 years experience documenting user requirements, screen designs, and design recommendations
• Minimum of 1 year experience designing and conducting formative usability tests in formal and informal settings
• Minimum of 1 year experience preparing and presenting findings and recommendations in small and large group settings
Must provide a digital portfolio of design work for reviewHOW TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD (Desired Skills)
Showcase your knowledge of modern development through the following experience or skills:

• Experience using Axure RP prototyping software
• Experience with AdobeXD prototyping software
• Experience with Pega and/or ServiceNow platforms
• Experience with the Agile/Scrum methodology
• Understanding of responsive design
• Prior experience supporting government agencies
• Understanding of Section 508 and its requirements regarding design

Pay Range: Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
