DHR Health is Hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) Post Op Supervisor FT Near Edinburg, TX

POSITION SUMMARY :

Responsible for coordinating all nursing care for patients during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience based on established clinical nursing practice standards. Performs nursing activities in the operating room where the circulating nurse is the patient's advocate. Makes nursing assignments for team members based on level of experience based on level of experience and knowledge. Answers patient needs by assisting the physician and person responsible for anesthesia care. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports DHR vision and mission. Utilizes knowledge of patient’s age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care. Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. Participates in the development and implementation of hospital polices and procedures, as well as making suggestions for revision of same. Maintains open communication with all nursing staff to promote improvement in performance this position requires a sound knowledge of nursing practice and exceptional leadership abilities.

POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS :

¨ Graduate of accredited school of nursing required

¨ Current registered nurse’s license in the State of Texas

¨ Current BLS certification/ACL certification within 6 months of hire

¨ ACLS or PALS certification within 6 months of hire for DHR Director

¨ NRP certification within 6 months of hire preferred

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE :

Minimum of two (2) years experience as a first-line manager coupled with three (3) years experience in the post-operative area preferred. Broad understanding of patient care processes. Must be able to apply principles of managerial and leadership theory. Cognitive and technical knowledge and the ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care is required. Position also requires immediate judgment and response, occasionally in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drills. Must posses the ability to retrieve, communicate and present data, as is the ability to express or exchange ideas in American English by means of the spoken and written word. Must be flexible with work scheduling. Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits. The successful candidate will be required to pass competencies for this position.

¨ Ensures that approved operating room procedures are followed to meet the requirements of scheduled procedures.

¨ Adheres to hospital/unit policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.

¨ Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician.

¨ Demonstrates ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations.

¨ Supports and promotes excellence in customer/guest relations.

¨ Supports and promotes the organization’s Infection Control Program.

¨ Supports and promotes the organization’s Safety Program.

¨ Supports and promotes the organization’s Risk Management Program.

¨ Demonstrates maturity and accountability for job performance.
