Provides patient transportation to and from the radiology department in an orderly and safe manner. Assists clinical personnel in moving patients to and from beds, stretchers, tables, etc.

Maintains transportation equipment in clean and safe condition.

POSITION EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required
• BLS required.
• Organizational skills are necessary.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English, Spanish preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.

JOB KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

• Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
• Ability to function well as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities :

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES :

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices
• Logs out all patients from the unit.
• Maintains all wheelchairs and stretchers in an orderly manner.
• Greets all patients and families in a professional and caring manner.
• Provides for privacy.
• Works collaboratively with Nursing and Radiology staff.
• Utilizes proper body mechanics during transports.
• Effectively prioritizes workload / assignments.
• Notifies nurse before disconnecting oxygen and monitoring equipment.
• Utilizes the appropriate method of transportation.
• Other duties as assigned.

• B. Working Conditions : The individual spends over 95% of his / her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise.

There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.

C. Occupational Exposure : This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids).

Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
