Front Desk Patient Service Rep

Diabetes & Endocrine Treatment Specialists, or DETS for short, is an independent, physician-owned medical clinic based in Sandy, Utah. Our motto is to focus on wellness, not illness. At DETS, exceptional treatment comes from all of us, no matter our position.

Our Front Desk Patient Service Rep reports to our CEO. The Rep is responsible for answering the phones, checking patients in, collecting patient information, relaying messages to our providers and/or vendors, greeting everyone with a smile, and keeping everyone on time. We are like a village; everyone helps everyone here but has their unique specialty.

Things you may want to know about:

Location: Sandy, Utah (around 7400 South and 1300 East). Plenty of free parking. There are tons of restaurants and shopping nearby.

Schedule: Monday through Friday. The start/end time is either 10 am and 2 pm or 11 am to 3 pm. The Clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and the front desk needs coverage for lunches. Occasionally, this position may cover others' vacations and be asked to cover an entire 8 hr shift if possible.

Dress Code: Scrubs. DETS will provide new scrubs in fun colors that match our logo.

What you will be doing:

  • Acting as a front line to incoming phone calls, new patients, appointments, billing, rescheduling, lab results, and general questions.
  • Checking patients in, updating patient information, reviewing patient bills,
  • Running patients' Copay or deductible credit card payments
  • Managing patient billing files through Tebra, Elation, Spruce, and Hint
  • Updating patients' accounts and communicating any issues to management promptly.
  • Scanning, copying, data entry, faxing, filing, and typing emails and or text messages
  • Light cleaning - keep the front desk area clean, organized, and sanitized
  • Light stocking medical supplies, office supplies, kitchen supplies

What we need from you:

  • Excellent verbal skills in person and over the phone
  • Excellent written communication skills (email and text)
  • An ability to work closely with various people while effectively using problem-solving skills. A great personality and a happy demeanor are required.
  • Responsible for patient satisfaction
  • Experience handling phones, email, and text correspondence with patients and vendors

Essential Functions And Duties

  • All font desk functions for the Clinic, including but not limited to answering phones, patient relations, scheduling, patient check-in, supplies, communication, and vendor relations.
  • Helpful but not required - experience with billing, PreAuthorizations, and med refills
  • Bilingual (Spanish) would be helpful

Education And Experience

  • 1 year of healthcare experience is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving healthcare environment
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records programs ELATION is preferred
  • Experience with Tebra is Highly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience with G Suite, Microsoft Office Applications
