Associate – Investment Operations

IN BRIEF

The position's primary function is to support the investment and accounting operations at the firm. This includes all aspects of client account onboarding, maintenance, and reporting. The position interfaces with many internal teams, including trading and relationship management, along with external parties, like broker and custodian banks.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Security setup and maintenance across internal systems along with communication of key security updates to internal stakeholders.
• Establish new accounts, new broker relationships, and custodians throughout internal systems.
• Implement changes for account terminations and transfers.
• Process and reconcile transactions daily to ensure accurate account positions.
• Master and support internal proprietary and vendor related applications.
• Assist clients in custodian matters, including document completion.
• Review and produce internal and external reporting.
• Leverage and partner with Business Analysts to improve team efficiency by creatively streamlining manual or outdated processes.
• Serve as a trusted partner to internal and external teams and continuously work to build and strengthen these relationships.
• Partner with internal owners of service provider and vendor relationships on issue tracking, issue resolution, and touchpoints.
• Responsible for understanding and working to mitigate operational risk to the firm.
• Responsibilities for each role outlined above are subject to change, and percentage of time allocated to each may vary as position evolves.

Each member of the team is assigned individual responsibilities which may include:

• Post corporate actions into the portfolio accounting and trade order management systems.
• Coordinate proxy voting setup, maintenance, and ballot reconciliation processes.
• Assist with reviewing, monitoring, and inputting of security prices to the portfolio accounting system.
• Assist with regulatory testing requests.
• Perform and monitor trade affirmation and settlement of market transactions.
• Generate, review, and distribute quarterly client statements and invoices.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field desired.
• Previous asset management experience with focus on investment operations desired.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the financial services industry.
• Strong technical ability, clear communication, attention to detail, and analytical skills.
• Ability to lead discussions, track issues and troubleshoot solutions with demonstrated ability for follow-up.
• Self-starter, efficiency-minded, independent thinker, works with minimal supervision.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required and familiarity with VBA and/or SQL a plus.
• Willingness to leverage technology and automation.
• Work independently and as a collaborative team member, exhibiting strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work well under a variety of deadlines.
