Diamond Peak Recruiting is Hiring a Project Manager Near Michigan, MI

The Project Manager/Estimator will manage and execute all assigned industrial construction projects, focusing on mining maintenance. This position will work closely with leadership to develop new clients and projects in Michigan and will serve as the primary point-of-contact for client relations. The ideal candidate will be self-driven and strive for continuous improvement in a complex, dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Coordinate workflow and communicate project details to staff members.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with engineering and architectural teams, ensuring proper document flow (purchase orders, RFIs, change orders, meeting minutes).
  • Review construction means and methods with Superintendents.
  • Communicate effectively with Field Supervision and Project Engineers to ensure adherence to plans, materials availability, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Implement and monitor safety processes.
  • Manage subcontractor selection and monitor performance.
  • Complete required reports and paperwork using construction ERP software.
  • Develop and maintain a Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule and ensure appropriate communication.
  • Lead project close-out meetings and oversee final punch list preparation.

Estimating:

  • Conduct drawing take-offs and scope document analysis.
  • Estimate self-perform work and mechanical processes.
  • Prepare and submit proposals and ensure union jurisdiction compliance.

Project Financial Oversight:

  • Collaborate with the estimating department to develop accurate estimates using WinEst.
  • Develop project budgets and input them into construction ERP software (Vista Viewpoint).
  • Conduct risk assessments and analyze deviations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and approve subcontracts, purchases, timesheets, and expenses.
  • Ensure timely billing of customer invoices and follow up on collections as needed.
  • Monitor and control project costs and provide updates to the Senior Construction Manager.
  • Assemble and review final project costs for future bid references.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience managing mining or heavy industrial projects, including repairs and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of union contracts and their impact on project management.
