As a Superintendent specializing in ground-up commercial construction, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of on-site construction activities, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role requires strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of construction processes and techniques specific to ground-up commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and subcontractors to develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and services necessary for construction.
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings with project teams to review plans, specifications, safety protocols, and project requirements.

On-Site Management and Supervision:

  • Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction activities, including subcontractor work, material deliveries, and equipment utilization, to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Monitor progress against project schedules and milestones, and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain schedule integrity.
  • Enforce safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements to promote a safe and productive work environment.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Conduct regular inspections and quality audits to assess workmanship, adherence to specifications, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Address any deficiencies or non-conformities identified during inspections, and coordinate with project teams to implement corrective measures.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of on-site activities, including daily logs, progress reports, and as-built drawings.

Stakeholder Communication and Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for on-site construction activities, communicating regularly with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Provide regular progress updates, milestone achievements, and construction milestones to stakeholders, and address any concerns or issues in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and project team members to foster collaboration, teamwork, and project success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience (3 years) as a superintendent in ground-up commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials specific to ground-up construction projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid).
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (preferred).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
