Dickerson Children's Advocacy Center is Hiring a Forensic Services Coordinator Near Lexington, SC

Position Description:

The primary purpose of the Forensics Services Coordinator (FSC) position is to conduct and coordinate intakes for children and families referred to DCAC requesting a forensic evaluation. The FSC provides case management to support family engagement in initial services and coordination of intervention activities as part of DCAC’s Continuum of Care. In this capacity the FSC works closely with advocacy and clinical services providing organizational support to link services to the continuum of care to aid service provision. The FSC is responsible for data entry in DCAC’s client tracking program, Collaborate. The FSC also provides family advocacy services as needed.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of Associate’s Degree in Human Services or Administrative Field required or two years of experience in the field of children's services and/or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. This list of essential duties and responsibilities is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed. Incumbents may be required to perform position related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Intake and Case Management:

· Receive, review and schedule requests for a Forensic Evaluation to include forensic interviews and forensic medical examinations.

· Consult with the Director of Forensic Services on service requests in order to prioritize and triage cases as needed.

· Assess for child safety by formulating an initial impression of the family’s ability to support and protect. Identify risks, notifying appropriate agencies, take necessary action to ensure child safety.

· Initiate the client record; help ensure initial documentation, incident reports, insurance information and all other necessary documentation is properly completed and included in the client record.

· Notify all appropriate agencies involved with the family of services scheduled; investigative agencies are invited and encouraged to attend the forensic interview. Identify and follow up with other professionals involved in the case in order to coordinate the delivery of services.

· Maintain thorough and accurate records of all requests for services by entering necessary documentation in DCAC’s database, Collaborate, in a timely manner.

· Coordinate client notification of scheduled appointment time and documentation required for appointment via letter or phone call to family or referral agency.

· Responsible for reminding client of appointment time through coordinating with interns and back-up staff to place reminder calls or texts 24 hours in advance of appointment(s).

· Participate in daily team case review with the clinical and medical staff to maintain DCAC’s continuum of care and prepare for forensic evaluations.

· Assist as necessary in evaluating client’s satisfaction with service experience.

· Collect necessary data both from DCAC and outside agencies to support case tracking and grant reporting.

· Work closely with the Director of Forensic Services to review and update client intake protocols.

· Maintain case records in agency database, Collaborate; assist with compiling data reports as needed and provide backup for Collaborate Database training and management.

· Work a flexible schedule as required to support after hour days and other necessities.

Family Advocacy:

· Participates in the navigation and care teams as part of the continuum of care program.

· Provide information and feedback related to the investigative process to the assigned to MDT partner from DSS and/or Law Enforcement.

· Coordinate with other advocates that may be working with the child and family, such as Law Enforcement Advocates, Guardian ad Litem.

· Maintain contact with the victim and family throughout the investigation and prosecution when requested by the family or the law enforcement officer.

· Maintain case records in DCAC client tracking database, Collaborate.

· Answer any questions related to the investigative process and provide feedback to the assigned DSS caseworker worker and/or law enforcement.

· Aid the child and the family in completing Victim Services applications for the Crime Services Victim Division and providing Victim Rights and other resource information.

· Attend case review and follow through with any recommendations of the team that would require the services of the advocate.

· Assist the child and family in accessing services recommended by the MDT and DCAC services team.

· Obtain Victim Service Provider (VSP) credential; maintain VSP credential through continuing education and training annually.

· Attend court proceedings with the child and family if requested by the family or the law enforcement officer assigned to work with the family.

· Be available as a witness in court as required.

· Act as liaison between DCAC, Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) partners and other community agencies.

· Provide presentations, speaking engagements, resource materials and other information to community partner meetings, in-service training, health fairs and community events to deliver crime victim information, victim rights and compensation information, and other child abuse and maltreatment resources.

  • Attends and participates in meetings, trainings, and supervision as requested.

· Provides backup assistance in the advocacy program for all services.

Outreach Services:

Activities for Underserved communities through 11th circuit and underserved populations

  • Assist the DFS in the coordination and annual maintenance of DCAC interagency protocols, MDT Agreement and MDT Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) to ensure they are current and functional.
  • Assist the DFS and Leadership Staff with the delivery and continued development of the DCAC Outreach Services Plan.
  • Maintains relationships with community partners and cultivate new partners.
  • Assists with the creation and management of outreach materials, packets and presentations for DCAC’s Outreach Services Plan.
  • Participates as needed for outreach and clinical staff and interns to conduct outreach activities in underserved communities.
  • Identify community resources through research, referrals and introduction via DCAC community partners along with all DCAC advocacy staff.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of community resources within and for underserved communities.
  • Assists identifying and addressing gaps and duplication in community services by providing a wide range of clinical and forensic services, coordinating and monitoring community task forces, response teams and other service providers within organizations and agencies who interface with crime victims.
  • Conduct training and presentations and participate in community events to aid in understanding DCAC services as needed.

  • Attend appropriate training workshops and conferences.
  • Ensure direct supervisor and/or the Executive Director is knowledgeable about any issues that impact the safety, functioning and management of DCAC.
  • Meet any other needs as identified by the ED.
  • Abide by federal and state confidentiality and privacy requirements, as well as all DCAC Policies and Procedures.
  • Abide by and meeting all grant requirements and objectives.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
