Responsibilities
Under general supervision the RN-Medical Oncology performs a wide range of duties and tasks related to the care and treatment of cancer patients. The RN-Medical Oncology is responsible for knowing his/her professional scope of practice as defined by the California Business and Professional Code and must maintain applicable and current licensing. The RN maintains a clean organized and safe environment and performs patient care services that support the Medical Oncologist and clinical staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current California Registered Nursing (RN) license
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a focus on registered nursing
  • Two (2) years of experience as an RN in an acute care or ambulatory care setting
  • Excellent interpersonal organizational and customer service skills
  • Medical terminology familiarity with CPT coding procedures and reference tools and pharmacology appropriate to Registered Nurse scope of practice is essential
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (e.g. BSN) degree
  • One (1) year of oncology experience
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred
  • Knowledge of chemotherapy drugs chemo toxicity and chemo schedules
  • Ability to work well as part of an interdisciplinary team in the treatment and care of sick and/or terminally ill patients and their families
