Job SummaryTo instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student-athlete shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self discipline and self confidence.

- Develop and implement, under the supervision of the Junior Varsity Baseball Coaches, all strength and conditioning plans (in and out of season).
- Focus mainly on the development of the player’s flexibility, core strength, arm care, functional strength, and overall player health.
- Must be present at all Dinwiddie Middle School practices and games ensuring player health and minimal Baseball specific instruction.
- Will be, in coordination with the Junior Varsity Baseball Coach, a vital piece to the overall Baseball program in Dinwiddie County.
- Assist the Junior Varsity Baseball Coach in ensuring that all players within their sport are operating within the guidelines set forth within the Dinwiddie County Public Schools, Dinwiddie High School Athletic Department and Virginia High School League policies.
- Send team pertinent information to student-athletes and parents as requested by the Junior Varsity Baseball Coach.
- Ensure that student-athletes and parents are fully informed with regards to Dinwiddie Athletic Department and team rules and policies as well as practice and game schedules.
- Monitor athlete behavior, attendance and academic status. (This includes providing corrective assistance to administrators and teachers as requested and necessary).
- May also be assigned duties to fulfill with the Junior Varsity Baseball team (as needed).
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Junior Varsity Baseball Coach.
- This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force.
- Work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and frequently requires standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms and lifting.
- Work has standard vision requirements.
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
- Work may require preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities.
- Work requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
- Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. gym, field events) and requires occasional visits to off-site locations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrates professionalism and fosters a positive environment.
- Knowledge of athletic program regulations.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
- Position may require the operation of division-owned/leased motor vehicles; therefore, the incumbent’s driving record will be subject to periodic review and must be acceptable in accordance with the provisions of the Dinwiddie County School Board’s policy manual.
- All candidates must successfully undergo the following pre-employment screenings:
- Tuberculosis Screening
- Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigation
- State Police Criminal History Investigation
- Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)/National Criminal History Investigative Search
