Diocese of Austin Catholic Parishes is Hiring an Assistant Director of Sacred Music and Organist Near Austin, TX
Job Summary : The Assistant Director of Sacred Music contributes to the liturgy by consistently providing professional-level music, and through collaborating with the Pastor and Director of Sacred Music in developing and growing the music ministry at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School. This position reports directly to the Director of Sacred Music and works collaboratively with the liturgical team. Essential Job Duties:
In coordination with the Director of Sacred Music, serve as organist for the Parish and School, including as a collaborator in rehearsals with the King's Choir and 1:30pm Spanish Mass musicians
Mass schedule to include, but not limited to:
Friday, 8am School Mass (during school year)
Saturday, 5pm vigil Mass with cantor
Sunday, 9:30am Mass with King's Choir; 1:30pm Spanish Mass with guitarist (piano)
Other special solemnities, feast days, and parish events
Direct the St. Ambrose Ringers (Handbell Choir) in weekly rehearsals and monthly Mass performances
In coordination with the Director of Sacred Music, plan music and assist in the creation of worship aids
Assist the Director of Sacred Music in the development of the Friends of the King's Music Concert Series, such as coordinating with related ministries, networking with (potential) artists, fundraising, and promotion of concerts
Assist the Director of Sacred Music with planning music for weddings and funerals, funeral worship aid production, and engaging outside musicians as required
Attend and participate in bi-weekly (liturgy team) and monthly (full staff) meetings
Function as an effective team member with both volunteers and professionals, including scheduling, communication, and organization. This includes parish staff, parish membership, and outside vendors and visitors
Maintain a focus on the Parish Mission in all service to the church: our mission is to unite God's people in the sacraments, steward his generosity, and evangelize the community
Other duties as assigned in collaboration with the Director of Sacred Music
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Skill in verbal and non-verbal communication.
Ability to operate word-processing software.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with staff, clergy, religious and laity.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and utilize effective time management techniqu

Ability to proficiently communicate in English (conversing, reading, and writing).
Minimum Qualifications: Education and Training:
Master's Degree in Organ or Sacred Music, with experience in service playing, improvisation, and liturgical repertoire on the organ
Experience:
3-5 years experience leading a liturgical music ministry program, preferably Catholic
Preferred experience and familiarity with the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, and Sing to the Lord
Preferred experience managing both volunteers and professionals, including scheduling, communication, and organization.
Licenses/Certifications:
Valid Texas driver's license
Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Virtus program and policies throughout the employment period.
