Direct Refrigeration Sales is Hiring a Controller Near Cumming, GA


Direct Refrigeration Sales (DRS) is a leading supplier of aftermarket commercial refrigerator door gaskets, frame parts, and strip curtains. Due to our growth, we are looking for a top-notch, versatile, experienced Controller to wear many hats within the Accounting, HR, and IT teams. This is a full-time, in-office position that reports to the CEO/President of DRS. 

Job Summary

The Controller is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the financial/accounting team, ensuring DRS’ financial processes are robust, accurate, and are compliant with GAAP. In addition, the Controller oversees our third-party IT administrator while supervising and evaluating the work of the Accounting Director and HR Manager. The Controller will also work closely with the leadership team to drive financial strategy and make recommendations for improvements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Finance/Accounting:

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and execute financial strategies that support the company's growth and profitability goals.
  • Analyze financial data and identify trends, opportunities, and areas of concern.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on financial decisions, investments, and cost management.
  • Oversee and assist with the timely and accurate preparation and distribution of financial statements, reports, and forecasts.
  • Recommend and implement efficient cash management strategies to support operational needs.
  • Safeguard company assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing effective internal controls.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, including monthly multi-state sales tax returns.
  • Manage and develop a team of accounting professionals, ensuring their continued growth and performance.
  • Conduct regular internal audits to identify areas for improvement and serve as the primary liaison during external audits.

Human Resources & IT:

  • Manage and oversee the operations of the human resources team.
  • Assist in developing strategic human resource plans and policies.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of bi-weekly payroll.
  • Manage the relationship and performance of third-party IT Managed Services provider.
  • Ensure all IT systems and networks are running efficiently, with minimal downtime.
  • Lead any IT related projects and serve as the key point of contact for all IT related issues.

Primary Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Controller or similar role, with a strong understanding of financial management, accrual-based accounting principles, and internal controls.
  • Knowledge of HR functions and payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of IT functions and Managed Services providers.
  • Experience within the manufacturing/distribution industry, including knowledge of inventory costing and inventory procedures.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities, driven by the company’s vision and mission statements, with the ability to mentor and develop a team.
  • Superior management, supervisory, written and verbal communication, and people skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting, tax preparation, financial/MS Office Suite software and tools, including ERP systems.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal and credit background check.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field required.
  • Ten years or more of related experience required.
  • Master’s degree or Certified Public Accountant designation is a plus.
