Position: Intellectual Property Paralegal

Locations: Washington D.C.

Full Time: Yes - Hybrid 

Salary range: $110,000-140,000/year (Will go higher for the right experience)

Position Summary:

The IP Litigation Paralegal position will provide organizational and practice-specific assistance to attorneys in the IP Litigation Department in preparing litigation cases from onset through post-trial including related research and analysis. Candidate should also be flexible to work overtime as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists with all aspects of patent, trademark and other IP litigation, including deposition and other discovery preparation, trial preparation, pre-trial compliance, trial, post-trial and appellate proceedings, including preparation for oral arguments, case strategy conferences and preparation and filing of motions and briefs electronically or manually

  • Assists with all aspects of AIA trials (inter partes reviews, post-grant reviews), including document preparation, proofing, and filing, case management, deposition scheduling and management

  • Assists with preparing and filing documents in post-grant patent proceedings (inter partes reviews and ex parte reexaminations) before Patent Trial and Appeal Board ("PTAB")

  • Supports patent litigation, patent appeals and contested proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) and U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC)

  • Assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications & Prior Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution preferred; equivalent experience considered

  • Certified Paralegal a plus

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Patent Litigation Paralegal or similar within a law firm with demonstrated knowledge of complex issues within the Litigation practice area, including significant knowledge of ITC Section 337 proceedings and related rules and procedures

  • Patent trial experience (including ITC trial experience), including exhibit preparation, witness preparation and management, knowledge of subpoena preparation, experience working with judicial assistants and trial presentation vendors, experience assisting attorneys in the courtroom

  • Experience with E-filing and litigation support applications such as, Relativity and other 3rd-party applications

  • Experience with the ITC EDIS filing system
