Director of Safety and Risk

In this role, you’ll strategize, analyze opportunities, and develop proactive safety programs as we expand. Collaboration across all our sites is essential to ensure our employees work in safe environments. Additionally, you’ll manage litigation matters in partnership with legal counsel and oversee insurance and risk management activities.

Location:

Muskogee, Tulsa or Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with occasional travel around the state of Oklahoma.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation Package: Competitive salary ($75,000 - $95,000 annually, based on experience), comprehensive health benefits, dental and vision coverage, life insurance, 401k match, holidays, generous PTO, company vehicle, and more.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead a team including DOT Specialist and Safety Coordinators.

• Manage insurance renewals and identify areas needing coverage improvement.

• Handle lawsuits, liaising with attorneys and serving as the company's representative.

• Evaluate and mitigate risks, implementing corrective measures.

• Develop safety and fleet programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, FMCSA, and OCC regulations.

• Manage in-house and insurance claims processes.

• Stay updated with safety software such as ISNetworld and Avetta.

• Regularly review and update safety policies and procedures.

• Maintain compliance with regulatory bodies like OSHA, DOT, and ODOT.

• Analyze accident reports and recommend preventive actions.

• Oversee OSHA 300 logs and submission.

• Manage training programs and compliance tracking for safety certifications.

• Conduct routine audits to ensure departmental compliance with safety standards.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• 5-7 years of Safety and Compliance background

• Demonstrated record of strong leadership and willingness to drive change to enhance safety and environmental behaviors across the organization

• In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards

• Prior experience with risk management and worker's compensation

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

• Proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, strong analytical skills, and tech-savvy

• Strategic orientation mindset with building, planning, and problem-solving experiences

• Energetic, positive, innovative, and organized
