DFYF has provided innovative, culturally sensitive, and successful programming to the Central Ohio community since 1899, through our predecessor Crittenton Family Services. DFYF’s programs are divided into 3 categories: Treatment, Prevention, and Education. DFYF offers specialized mental health, kindergarten readiness, afterschool and summer programming to meet the diverse needs of our youth and family population. DFYF proudly serves over 5,000 youth, adults, and families each year. All of our programs strive to fulfill our mission to build and inspire hope, healing, and resilience for youth, families, and communities through counseling and education.
Position overview: Directions for Youth and Families is looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to be a part of our Afterschool and Summer Program and fill the position of part-time Prevention Specialist. Responsibilities include the implementing and overseeing the structured social emotional learning activities within our program. Social emotional activities include overseeing activities that teach Life Skills, healthy expression, self-regulation and engaging youth in community service-learning projects. The position allows for group activities that inspire youth learning in fun, creative, and engaging ways. The ideal candidate should feel comfortable working with youth between the ages of 8-18 years old, facilitating groups, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and possess ability to engage youth.
Afterschool program operates Monday-Friday, 3pm to 8pm, and Summer program operates Monday-Friday 9am -3pm. Team meetings and occasional special events may require changes to schedule.
Qualifications:Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred, or specialized training
Experience Working With Youth And Facilitating Educational Lessons RequiredStrong engagement and communication skills
Basic computer & documentation skills
Valid Driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
