Discovery Education is Hiring a Manager, National Events Near Charlotte, NC

Events are a crucial part of Discovery Education’s success. We’re looking for a skilled National Events Manager to plan dynamic and engaging events to engage our partners, drive new business, and strengthen our organization’s unique culture at events across the country.
The National Events Manager will contribute to all aspects of event campaigns that focus on pipeline growth, acceleration, partner engagement, and world-class brand experiences while expanding Discovery Education’s brand recognition in the market. The national events manager supports in the implementation of marketing strategies, coordinating logistics for events, managing communication with vendors and stakeholders, and analyzing data to optimize future campaigns. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management, planning, execution, and evaluation of a variety of events ranging from conferences and trade shows to corporate roadshows and customer events.
You must be able to work well within time and budget constraints, yet still bring a highly creative flair to deliver superb experiences to event and tradeshow attendees. We need an organized, results-focused individual who has excellent verbal and written communication skills, remains calm under pressure, and is good at solving problems.
About The Role(in coordination with Senior Manager, Event Marketing)
  • Plan and execute events for internal and external purposes.
  • Execute on standard event programs from conception to completion.
  • Develop and support new events to engage partners and prospects; flawlessly and seamlessly execute upon plans, delivering the “special touches” that reinforce DE’s brand image and awareness.
  • Provide event-planning support for strategic in-person events, conferences, corporate partners and school districts, including venue selection, event registration, food and beverage, décor, technology/social tools, exhibit services, content, collateral, onsite staffing, branded premiums.
  • Own Zoom webinar platform and promote vision to internal stakeholders utilizing best practices.
  • Find ways to negotiate measurable savings on catering, audio/visual equipment, transportation, entertainment and other supply services.
  • Maintain project plans to be used in tracking project milestones and deliverables weekly for ongoing projects.
  • Keep event plans on budget and on schedule.
  • Reach out to potential sponsors and collaborators.
  • Advertise events through multiple channels.
  • Maintain accurate records of all expenditures.
  • Leverage data (through SF campaigns and Pardot) to inform event plans and determine effectiveness of all marketing initiatives.
  • Capture qualified leads and ensure leads are followed up and tracked.
  • Responsible for processing invoices, monthly statements, check requests and expense reports.
  • Support all operational and process-oriented functions (i.e., event and creative requests, logistics, merchandising, gifts, shipments, etc.)
The ideal candidate is meticulous and organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills and has a proven record of successfully managing complex events and programs. They will be able to coordinate multiple moving parts under pressure and ensure that any last-minute changes or obstacles are handled with minimal disruption. Above all, they will bring a strong sense of our organization’s needs and how events fit into our broader marketing and communications strategy.

Our ideal candidate has experience developing and executing marketing campaigns including event campaigns. You will own the process and implementation of event communications for lead generation workflows, data, reporting, and analytics.
Requirements
  • 5 years of experience in Event Planning, Marketing, and Operations with experience in B2B SaaS and/or Education markets preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a variety of audiences, including senior management, stakeholders and external agencies.
  • Excellent project management skills with an ability to set and achieve goals, meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to balance a high volume of projects simultaneously while paying strong attention to detail.
  • Strong budget management and logistical planning experience.
  • Ability to find solutions where there isn’t a clear one in sight.
  • Experience in full scope of event marketing, including digital marketing, email, and social along with event planning logistics.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and HTML/CSS is preferred.
  • Salesforce Lightning experience.
  • Zoom Webinar management experience.
  • Analytical and a data-driven thinker.
  • Experience with Asana or other project management software is a plus.
  • BS/MS degree in marketing or related fields, or equivalent work experience.
  • Education industry experience a plus.
  • Must be able to conduct business during non-business hours, including weekends when necessary, and able and willing to travel for in-person events up to 30% during the peak conferences seasons.
