Job Description:
We are seeking an innovative Director of Product Management for internal workflows and solutions at ABC News. This role requires a blend of technological and news broadcast knowledge, as well as strategic vision to enhance our existing product management practices. You will lead the refinement and optimization of internal workflows and toolsets, ensuring they are forward-thinking in the field and enable our strategic business goals. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the media landscape, an ability to innovate within it, and a track record of driving product management excellence in a similar setting. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for internal production workflows and toolsets, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic objectives. This involves a cohesive ecosystem of software from vendors, internally built applications, or a combination of the two.
Collaboratively work with end-users to identify and address pain points, streamlining processes for enhanced effectiveness and efficiency across the overall news reporting, video production, and publishing workflows.
Lead, build and mentor a team of internal product managers, fostering a culture of excellence and a strong product mindset. This includes establishing best practices for user-centered design and consistent product and program management.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across various departments, including engineering, consumer product, and other software teams within the larger organization.
Manage budgets, projects, and resources effectively, ensuring optimal allocation for process improvements and tool development based on business priorities.
Champion the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to facilitate the organization's continued evolution.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure the impact of product initiatives on organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications:
At least seven years of experience in production toolset product management (or similar) leadership within a fast-paced, news broadcasting or related media environment.
Strong track record of building and leading high-performing product management teams.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to foster collaborative relationships across various functional areas.
Deep understanding of broadcast news workflows, digital transformation, and the integration of new technologies in media production environments.
Strategic thinker with the ability to align product roadmaps with organizational objectives.
Budget management experience and financial acumen.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Media, Technology, or related fields.
