District 19 Community Services Board is Hiring a Recovery Court Peer Specialist Near Petersburg, VA

District 19 Community Services Board in Petersburg is seeking a Recovery Court Peer Recovery Specialist. Services performed by the Recovery Specialist is under supervision of the Clinical Supervisor. As an integral member of the Recovery Court Team the Recovery Specialist address the mental health and physical wellbeing of Recovery Court Participants while also providing peer support services. Peer support and services will include supportive counseling both individual and group to clients that live with both substance use and co-occurring disorders. Services will be client centered while promoting independence within the community and investment into their own recovery process. The Recovery Court Peer Specialist will serve as a role model to participating clients by exhibiting competency in their personal recovery.

Successful applicant must have: The Recovery Court Peer Specialist will possess a combination of relevant mental health and SUD knowledge, lived experience, education, training, and personal skills to provide a broad range of supportive services to the individuals we serve and to the organization and development of our agency's continuum of peer recovery services. It is expected that they have the skills, knowledge, ability and competence to establish and maintain good working relationships with CSB staff and individuals served, have well-developed communication skills, possess a good working knowledge of community resources, and have a strong ability to work collaboratively with others.

Knowledge and understanding of the needs of consumers who have emotional, behavioral, developmental, and/or substance abuse challenges. Knowledge of systems of care, resources, and the recovery process.

Provide direct services to individuals served by the HPG Recovery Court. Provide guidance to peer recovery service providers to increase uniformity of PRS values across our agency. Provide coverage to programs where additional peer resources are required. Participates in the development of comprehensive, individualized plan of care that includes specific and individualized goals; assists other service providers to understand the consumer's perspective and subjective experience; orients new Recovery Court participants to scope of services, hours, locations, and other pertinent information related to treatment and recovery.

Performs a wide range of tasks including mentoring and coaching to assist clients in regaining control over their lives and over their recovery process (areas of focus include: medication adherence, development of natural supports, reduce the risk of return to use of substances; avoid external triggers; refrain from engaging in behaviors that place abstinence at risk; encourage increase pro-social behavior that reduce the risk of return to use; follow through on Recovery Court exceptions as well as personal obligations, appointment and responsibilities .

Valid Driver's license driving record in good standing

Required: one year(1) Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist in the State of VA;

Combination of credentials and experiences that support individuals that live with SUD and Co-occurring disorders.
This is a Grade C4 salaried position starting at $39,239. *Salaries are negotiable*
