District Health Department No. 4 (DHD4) is a dedicated and passionate team that provides leadership in promoting environmental and personal health through health promotion, disease detection, disease prevention, education, and regulation. Our vision is in creating a healthier community and environment for all.
Essential Duties:
- Serves as a liaison with various community organizations for health outreach education.
- Prepares news releases, reports, manuals, newsletters, pamphlets, posters, and various training materials promoting health issues and Health Department activities.
- Receives and responses to health-related inquiries by letter or phone.
- Represents or facilitates the Health Department on various councils and task forces.
- Researches federal and state funding programs and/or grants to determine conditions and criteria for eligibility.
- Writes grants to acquire funding.
- Navigating social media platforms for the Agency.
- Provides assessment, support, education, and information, including assessing community services, advocacy, outreach, and the importance of preventative health care and linkages to the health care system.
- Incident command response and provides safety education.
- Always delivers services in a respectful and professional manner, and demonstrates cultural competency.

Education/Experience/Training:
· Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, or medical related field and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities preferred.
· Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred.
· Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Teaching with one (1) year experience in planning and implementation of public health programs or teaching will be considered.
· Considerable knowledge in coalition building and maintenance, substance abuse education, and tobacco prevention education experience preferred.
· Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Canva software proficiency.
· Excellent communication, professional writing, and organizational skills.
· Ability to provide services to vulnerable populations in a culturally competent and non-judgmental manner.
Other Requirements:
· Valid Michigan Identification and own means of transportation.
· Present during regular office hours. Not a virtual position.
Wage: Starting $26.25 per hour, increasing to $27.67 per hour after successful completion of probationary period, plus full benefit package.
