DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA COURTS is Hiring an Assistant Deputy Director - Region I & II Pre and Post Probation Near Washington, DC

Summary
This position is located in the D.C. Superior Court, Family Court-Court Social Services Division (CSSD) and is classified under law enforcement . The incumbent works in coordination with the Deputy Director and Director in providing leadership and guidance across the region; serves as an experienced member of the branch responsible for cases assigned and designated to appropriate satellite offices based on criteria established for all satellite offices and police service areas.

Duties
The incumbent in this role leads one of two (2) supervision Regions which house four (4) pre-trial and post-disposition probation supervision teams stationed in satellite offices uniquely located throughout the city.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR DUTIES:
  • Works in coordination with the Deputy Director and Director in leading the Division with a specific focus on maintaining state of the art case management, services coordination, community supervision, youth programming and other Division-wide programmatic development.
  • Serves as an experienced member of the senior management team lending assistance and support toward the accomplishment of system-wide objectives to the development of line managing leaders.
  • Provides recommendations for services necessary to address the needs of the youth and family, and community supervision as well as additional activities relative to other assigned goals and objectives consistent with the mission of CSSD.
  • Interacts with the judiciary, juvenile justice stakeholders and other court systems staff to achieve cooperative relationships and ensure proper workflow across satellite offices and supervision teams.
  • Directly supervises Supervisory Probation Officers and director reporting support staff .
  • Identifies trainings, orientations, and team building exercises appropriate for the development and ongoing enhancement of skills among assigned staff and fosters a work environment that is effective, supportive, and rewarding.
  • Analyzes existing and emerging statutory measures to ensure policies, procedures and practices driving juvenile case processing support day-to-day activities.
  • Provides technical assistance to the Deputy Director and Director in the development and improvement of policies, standard operating procedures (SOP) and practices as well as provide recommendations for staff development consistent with the duties defined for the Division.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Social Services, Human Services, Business or Public Administration, plus six (6) years of experience in a human/social service program geared toward children, adolescents and their families and three (3) years managing staff. Successful completion of the District of Columbia Courts Management Training Program is equivalent to one year. Appointees to this position must not have passed their 37th birthday in the month of appointment in order to qualify for mandatory law enforcement separation/retirement at age fifty-seven.Previous qualifying law enforcement experience under CSRS or FERS may be counted toward eligibility.

Employees can carry over no more than 240 hours of annual leave into the next leave year.
    Sick Leave is used for personal medical needs, care of a family member, or adoption related purposes. Full-time employees earn four(4)hours of sick leave biweekly. This leave can be accrued without limit.
    In addition to the federal health plans, the DC Courts offer employees supplemental vision and dental plans as well as commuter transit benefit subsidy, for a maximum of $150 a month.
